World War 1 Remembered.

On Wednesday 24th September our 1st.Years were given a very interesting and entertaining talk about WW1 by one of our past-pupils Darren McMahon. Darren is a member of the Irish Great War Society (IGWS) and he delievered his talk fully kitted out in the uniform of a WW1 British Army infantry sergeant. He was assisted by a colleague kitted out as an infantry private. On display were replica items such as a Lee Enfield rifle and a Lewis machine gun together with genuine pieces of kit from the period such as a gas-masks, helmets, a mortar and identity papers. The talk concluded with a lively and informative Q&A session. Many thanks to Darren for giving of his time to his old Alma Mater and to Ms Brady for facilitating the visit in the school library..
