U18 Gaelic Footballers Advance

Our U18 Gagaa_logoelic footballers took part in the opening round blitz of the Dublin school’s championship on Friday the 18th of November. The Blitz took place on a cold but sunny day at the Round Towers club pitches in Clondalkin. The opening match was played against Colaiste Mhuire Gaelscoil and provided a steep learning curve as Colaiste Mhuire played some excellent football.

Despite this the Brunner boys eventually got to grips with the game and began to create chances. Unfortunately with time against them, the Brunner boys were unable to claw back the great start made from Colaiste Mhuire. The game finished St Paul’s 1-1 Colaiste Mhuire 2-4. The score line not reflecting the effort and chances created by the boys form Brunner.

The second game provided the Brunner with a lifeline to ensure progression form the group, which they duly took. The game began with a much faster pace from the Brunner boys and with some really well taken points taken from a combination of forwards provided St Paul’s a half time lead against a stern and committed Colaiste Cillian who were the home team.

In the second half the opposition to came back into the game, with points exchanged from both sides. A goal in the last few moments put Colaiste Cillian ahead. The Brunner did not give up and pulled a goal back in the last minute. The goal was enough to ensure a one-point win with the score St Paul’s 1-8 Colaiste Cillian 2-4. Throughout the day the games saw some excellent performances throughout the panel.

With Lutterelstown Community C
ollege pulling out of the competition the Brunner had two wins which was enough to progress to the next stage in the competition. With some more players to join the panel for the next game this will provide excellent competition for places in the next round.
