TY Success Skills Programme

The Transition Year students recently completed their Success Skills programme which was organised in conjunction with Junior Achievement. The programme was delivered by Paul Dicker who works with Accenture Ireland. This is the second year that Paul has agreed to work as a volunteer tutor in our school and we were delighted to welcome him back after the great success of last year’s programme. Paul’s knowledge and enthusiasm was greatly appreciated by the students as they took part in a number of lessons that included topics such as CV preparation and interview skills. The students were also encouraged to explore their own interests and were shown how hobbies can often highlight skills that are transferable to the world of work.

To complete the programme Paul organised ‘mock interviews’ for the students and, with the assistance of his colleague Niamh Newman, each student was given the opportunity to interview for a job. They were then provided with insightful feedback which will be of great benefit to them in years to come.

Thanks again to Paul and to Niamh and we would love to welcome them back to Brunner next year.
