St Pauls Under 17’s Impress In Opening Fixture.

Benevin College DLS (Finglas) 0 –  St. Paul’s CBS  5

Making their return to First Division football after an absence of many years, St Paul’s CBS eventually ran out comfortable winners in this Under 17 clash played in Finglas on 6/11/14. Playing an attractive brand of passing football on a big bumpy pitch, the Brunner Boys took some time to settle but led by 2 goals at the interval thanks to fine efforts by  midfielders J O’Reilly and A Bradley. Further goals in the 2nd. half from W McAdams, S Fitzsimons and a Wolves bound D McKenna rounded off a fine team performance. The result was based on on a solid display from goalkeeper J Carey and a back 4 where D Prendergast was particularly impressive. The engine-room of midfield was ably driven by the silky football skills of  captain W McAdams , assisted by a tough tacking J O’Reilly. Up front C Duff and later on E Douglas both ran the line very energetically as the “Dream Team” (original) of Messrs Mangan & Smyth experimented with an effective 4-5-1 formation.
