National Spring Clean 2017

A big well done to the Green Schools Committee who organised their community action day this week to coincide with the National Spring Clean. The National Spring Clean is an anti-litter initiative, run by An Taisce, to encourage all members of the community to take responsibility for the maintenance and litter control of their local environment.

On Tuesday April 4th the Green Schools Committe, along with 4 staff members, set off to St. Michan’s park, Halston Street to do our spring clean. An Taisce provided us with different coloured bags for segregating waste, as well as bibs and gloves and St. Paul’s Primary School kindly loaned us some of their litter pickers. The students made an excellent effort in their cleaning and were careful not to interfere with any of the natural environment, as they are well aware from their studies that this is a very important time of year for flora and fauna alike. After all the hard work had been done, the students left their waste bags to be collected, which had been pre-arranged with Dublin City Council, and set off back to the school for a well earned party!

On behalf of the Green Schools Committee we would like to thank everyone that volunteered and helped in any way to make our day such a success.
