Halloweek 2014

Brunner was a spooky place to be this week with Hallowe’en celebrations and competitions aplenty. Our junior chefs were busy in the kitchen making Hallowe’en decorated cupcakes and Ms. Lawlor  declared Scott Clarke and Lee O’Neill from second year as the week’s master bakers.

Over fifty students entered the art competition and the standard was extraordinarily high. Joyce and Sandra had a hard task judging so many pieces but the prize went to Imran Malik (2 Connaught) with special commendations for John Bless Mbunga (1 Walton) and Owen Collins (2 Connaught0n).

The winners of the writing competition were Chirayu Mohan and Sergiu Ciocan (3 Munster) who submitted a wonderful story called ‘The Walls of Fate’. Runners up were Godfrey Yoro, Gareth McMahon, Daniel McKenna, Kyle Fitzgerald and Karl O’Hara.

As usual, the fancy dress competition was a great success. There were even some staff doppelgangers wandering around the halls. Prizes went to David Somerville as Mr Keane, Nathan Lawless as Mr Mangan, Adam Scully the infectious disease doctor, Nathan Masterson as Dracula and Ryan Campbell as Doctor Toxic. Many thanks to all students and staff who went to such lengths to make the week so successful.
