Green Schools Team Win First Green Flag!

Green Schools TeamThe boys of St. Paul’s CBS are going from strength to strength with their Green-School committee. The Green-School programme began in St. Pauls at the beginning of 2017 and in this short time they have managed to achieve a lot.

The committee is made up of students from all year groups and their focus this year has been to earn the Green flag for the school. The boys have done this through creating a Green-School notice board, ensuring every class room and social area has a recycling bin. They have raised awareness about the importance of recycling and have reduced the amount of waste being placed into the school’s black bins through announcements, posters, whole school competitions and community clean up days.

Third year student Simon says ‘I really think that the committee is successful and hope that we are making a difference’, this positive attitude is supported by fifth year student Chinzorig, ‘We have to start helping the environment and the school is a great place to start’.

The committee have just received word that they have earned their Green Flag and have been invited to DCU for the Green Flag Awards Ceremony. They are about to embark on a community clean up and whole school ‘Drop Everything and Recycle’ day.

This is a very exciting time for all in Brunner’s Green-School committee and thank you to Ms Bolger for all of her work and commitment with the team.
